This website is written about my experiences to help manage REM Sleep Disorder.

image It was about 10 years ago when I realised something wasn't quite right. I had fallen out of bed, woke and remembered that in a dream I was running away from a gun battle and dived under a car. The car wasn't there but the floor was!

Some months after this first "disturbance" my small son crept into my bed in the early hours. I was asleep until I had a dream that I was fighting... I awoke to cries from my son - I was fighting with him whilst in a dream state. This was a shocking experience and has been the start of my journey about a thing called REM sleep disorder.

During the last 10 years, there is barely a week goes by without some form of sleep disturbance. These range from being quite vocal to crashing around the room (I have the scars to prove it!). One thing that has become apparent is that there are various factors that may affect my sleep pattern. They include stress levels, food, alcohol, nicotine, exercise, and maybe other things such as whether it's a full moon. The aim of this website is to go through a series of experiments to try and identify which factors improve or worsen my REM sleep disorder. I would like to be able to manage the condition and pass on this information to others who may also be "special".

image This website is going to keep a record of what happens to me as I try various changes to my lifestyle in order to try and help manage my sleep disorder. I will keep a diary and try and gather evidence of what happens during this time. The website also provides a forum and I welcome other people who have this condition all those who live with a person who were also "special" to join in and share information. This is not a medical website although I will write about my experiences with the medical profession, what information is available on the web and any medical details that I think are relevant.
